I have made these wings for my husband's Super Bowl party for the last 10 years. This sauce can be prepared ahead of time and freezes well. Recipe can be tweaked to suit your taste for heat and sweetness.
Ingredients | Big John's Red Hots Pickled Sausage2 cups water½ cup distilled white vinegar1 cup white sugar, or to taste7 tablespoons hot pepper sauce (such as Frank's RedHot®), or to taste1 ½ teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes⅔ cup prepared yellow mustard3 ¾ tablespoons ketchup1 orange, peel and pith removed, chopped2 pounds chicken wings and drummettesDirectionsBring water, vinegar, sugar, hot pepper sauce, and crushed red pepper flakes to a boil in a heavy saucepan over medium heat.Whisk yellow mustard and ketchup into the sauce.Stir in the orange.
